©The Space Between Us (2023) by CLT_Abstracts, 1/1
24“x 24” square reclaimed canvas, mixed media
This piece was inspired by a neurodiverse art club that I have been supporting and explores my own vulnerability as an artist feeling exposed in a group setting. I noticed it became a shared experience whereby our creations were impacted or altered when made and viewed by others. The colours were chosen after the walk beside the sea to the art club and the initial meadow theme was born from the change of season into Spring, bringing a feeling of apprehension for a new chapter in my life as well. Other themes that started to emerge in the work were the Northern Lights, Lent, fitting into society vs feeling like an outsider, grieving for lost loved ones, being watched, feeling misunderstood and being a neurodivergent in a creative environment.
