©Island Storms (2024) was created just before World Whale Day in support of the work that local coastal conservation charities were doing to protect humpback whales. Some were spotted in the bay at Praa Sands and on Pendennis Point, Falmouth. It was a very exciting time for Cornwall and brought out all the keen photographers, painters, videographers and general seaside fans alike. I wanted to create a piece that emulated the splashes of the whales and the changing conditions of the ocean in stormy weather. Climate change is highlighted throughout my collection. I view my paintings as a vessel to express concern for the volatile weather patterns we’re seeing now and how that is affecting the natural world around us.
