12”x 18” limited edition Gicleè print in a white mount, signed on the print and mount, edition number included with print run of 100 max, sustainable/eco friendly wrapping, printed onto Hahnemühle German etching paper 320gsm.
I tend to reuse canvases as a way to lesson my impact on the environment. When I first got this canvas it was second hand and I created a fishtail fashion design on it with texture paste and various mark making, then I repainted it and created a design made using an actual fresh lily which i used to spray paint around. The stencil/resist process I was trying to achieve didn’t work quite as I planned and I was left with a curious effect that looked like a bruise. It was weirdly not as depressing as it sounds!
But after a few years of not knowing what to do next with it, I decided to create something brighter inspired by the Cornish coast and I really love how thickness of the paint and layered textures on this canvas work together to enhance the piece. The colours I have used work really well together with the texture to create depth and a sense of luxury. This is the first piece I have created using both silver and gold leaf on the same canvas.
